Lion and Prophet Biblical Truth
There is a problem in the world believing God would hold people accountable for their rebellion and sins. You see we find a warning of such in 1st Kings chapter 13, verses 1-34. Here we find the story of King Jeroboam who led Judah into idolatry. The Lord called a prophet, a man of God to give the Word of the Lord and cry against the altar created warning those there and the King that reform through Josiah would happen and all would be torn down, the priests killed, and the high places destroyed.
This was fulfilled [2nd Kings 23:15-20] through the reforms of Josiah. King Jeroboam heard the Prophet saying these words against the altar and the priest, so the King directed men to append the prophet by the pointing of his hand. As he did so, his hand dried up [withered] and became useless. At the same time, the alter was rent, torn down, and ashes poured out from the altar All of this was the word given by the Man of God which was followed by a sign given by the Word of the LORD.
And the man of God said unto the king, if thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place: For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest. So, he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.

The King pleaded with the Prophet to restore his hand. The prophet sought the Lord and soon the Kings hand was restored. The king thus offered the prophet to come home with him and he would be refreshed and given a reward. The Prophet refused saying the Lord had warned him to “eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way you came”! The whole of the kingdom was given to idolatry and food, water, or anything else dedicated to an idol in the land was not to be eaten.
The reward for disobedience
However, in the end the Prophet met an Old Prophet in the land who deceived the man of God. The Old Prophet told the other Prophet that an angel had told him to fetch the Man of God, i.e. the original prophet who had declared judgment on Jeroboam’s altar. He was to feed him and send the prophet on his way. It was total deception, and the Old Prophet had tested this prophet and found him not in tune enough to be warned of the danger. For the prophet had been warned once and if he were a true Prophet that understood the dangers of crossing the Lord; he would have done as the Lord had directly told him. In the end the prophet lost his life, being devoured by a lion. The lion did not eat the carcass of the prophet nor did the lion attack the ass the prophet rode on. This lion was judgment to the Prophet not lunch!
And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back: And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee, But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the LORD did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcass shall not come unto the sepulcher of thy fathers. And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back. And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcass was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcass.

It was later that the older prophet, had laid the dead prophet in the grave and mourned over him. The older prophet then told his sons, while this prophet died for his disobedience; he honored the prophet as well. He also told his sons that the words this prophet gave would happen.
And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones: For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.
After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places. And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

The truth here is that within the Prophets and the Kings lay many truths not to be ignored. Jeremiah had a similar experience with another prophet who came against him. This is found in Jer 28:1-17; and details a story of the Prophet Jeremiah who withstood another Prophet; Lies, deceit, and the reward! If you just think these are mere stories, think again. The sins of a nation and a people; along with all those so called religious, prophets, priests, pastors, deacons, and others who do not cry against sin as they will be judged. The same God who judged Israel will one day see judgment upon the nations of this modern era. It will be another Lion that will do the judgment. We find in Revelation chapter five; verses one through twelve the description of the “Lion of the Tribe of Juda, the Root of David” who prevailed. It is he that is coming as the “Almighty one”, the “Alpha and the Omega”, the “First and the Last”!
The Lion of the Tribe of Judah
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

In the time of Judah and the prophets, they had a God who they answered to! In this we find Judah sinning and looking to other gods. The prophet who disobeyed was judged by God through the Lion. You could say this is a Lion in Judah! Today we do have the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the root of David, the Son of God, and Judge. He will put down all enemies of God and judge all men. He is the resurrection and the life! The world today and its nations of men will find one the truth. They will all stand before this Lion, the Almighty, at the Great White Throne judgment. While there is turmoil, tribulation, and every evil work; no nation on earth will stand as it is. No flesh shall stand gloried on that day; for only the Lord shall be Lord of Lords and King of Kings. But those who kept his Word, his Faith, and his Testimony; proclaiming his Gospel shall be found in Him. They shall be shining as stars and glorified as Kings and Priests unto God.
During the chaos, there is hope, life, truth, peace, and redemption in Christ Jesus; let us pursue He who is our Hope. Even Jesus [Yeshua] Christ, the Almighty, the Son of David, the Alpha and Omega.
It is also true
that Israel’s political leadership, led by King Jeroboam sinned so badly that
it would be judged severely and Judah as well. It is a lesson we must
learn! Politics and sin are known to
sway many people today, even in America. Just as with Jeroboam and our American
scene today, judgment and truth will be found one day in the Lion of the Tribe
of Judah. It shall come to America.

Finally, my brethren do not be deceived. Christ Jesus warned us of deceivers, false prophets, the Son of Perdition, and the Beasts of Revelation. The Man of God, that prophet sent to warn Jeroboam and declare judgment knew the Word of the Lord given to him to give to Jeroboam. But he did not give enough credence to the cost of disobedience. He believed the word of an older Prophet who deceived him on purpose. The truth here is, he should have known; but trusted in the old prophet when he should have followed what the Lord told him.Don’t just believe someone. Test the spirit, the Word, and listen to what the leading of the Spirit of God is telling you from your heart.
This applies to all believers in Jesus Christ!The lesson and warning of the Lion and the Prophet should not be taken lightly.This lesson applies to all evil doers, liars, idolaters, and those who do not know the True and living God through His Son Jesus Christ!

He believed the word of an older Prophet who deceived him on purpose. The truth here is, he should have known; but trusted in the old prophet when he should have followed what the Lord told him. Don’t just believe someone. Test the spirit, the Word, and listen to what the leading of the Spirit of God is telling you from your heart.
This applies to all believers in Jesus Christ! The lesson and warning of the Lion and the Prophet should not be taken lightly. This lesson applies to all evil doers, liars, idolaters, and those who do not know the True and living God through His Son Jesus Christ!
