The Ax in this case is the Judgment of the Lord, who himself declared “I am the Almighty”. This is within the first chapter of Revelation. In the last Chapter of Revelation, here chapter twenty-two, verse eleven we find “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” The next verse declares “I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
The truth here is that the Lord will lay the Ax of judgment to the trees of iniquity, rebellion, and doer of every evil work. As well, those who do righteousness and follow “Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”- Hebrews 12:17, yes these shall find the “Joy of the Lord” – Matthew 25:21, 23. It comes as a matter of choice where you want to spend eternity. It also is whether you are deluded. Whether you were led astray or just did not believe will be no comfort to you on that day. All your words and actions will find the truth on that day of judgment. For you will be laid against the Veil of holiness and Truth which societies of men put up to block the Truth. Declaring that the truth is a lie. Be sure a well-placed lie serves up its own brand of truth to a society who will not listen to the Truth of God and His Gospel.
Be sure that this introduction is ominous and meant as a definite wake-up call to America. But such a thing is foreign to many Americans who do not believe this nation would fall. Even the thought of it brings a nod of disbelief. For this nation has had troubles over its storied past. It always found a path forward. So, the conclusion is “Why should we be worried now?”
The apostle Peter spent time warning the masses who read his second epistle. In his second chapter he goes into details of the troubles people faced. He warned of false prophets and teachers, such were the types that had found a place within the community of believers. Heresies of such type they would follow, even denying the true Lord who saved them in the first place. Herein, in America we have these wolves among the churches today. Church splits over doctrines is common in the church.

Addressing these wolves among the church, Peter says many will follow their “pernicious ways” herein referred to as ‘damnable’ ways that lead people into destruction, herein commonly seen as ‘perdition’. These leaders even deny the Lord. It was many years ago that a survey of Pastors and Christian leaders in the UK found that a startling number of them did not believe in the divinity of Jesus, his virgin birth, or resurrection. I don’t know how they would score today in the UK nor in the USA. Yet as I personally witnessed growing up the massive crusades by Reverend Billy Graham, listened to warnings by David Wilkerson, and followed others who warned society at that time; today you can barely tell that it made an effect on American society. I would also add this nation is far more than merely “pernicious”. A point in this Peter stresses is these people “bring upon themselves swift destruction.” A very good point for people to pay attention to, that is; if you don’t want to go to hell.
Yet these leaders, full of covetousness, work to sell you, their goods. By convincing you in smooth tones, common sense human arguments, and teaching for truths the doctrines of men. America has been very good at selling, merchandising, and being profitable in the corporate world. Today these modern castles of success have many a pastor who is the corporate President of these famed gloried churches of gold and silver a multi-millionaire. But the problem is the doctrines and the push for such things. The standard to judge a righteous pastor is not whether they have gotten rich through stinking ‘mammon’ but is faith through the power and presence of the Spirit of God to get God’s truth to the masses. We are not called to be successful. Being successful is a carnal trait common to man. We are called to be faithful, not rich in mammon and gold. Nor to be milking the people with their teachings by charging money for blessings, healings, or help.
Now whether you think this is right or wrong, is of no matter to this article. People have opinions and be sure the doctrines of men are varied as there are different issues on any one subject. The warning though Peter uses is a series of examples.
God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment.” Be sure God will not put up with modern America or any nation or leader to go without punishment if they are corrupt. The second argument Peter uses is to warn his listeners that God “spared not the old world, but save Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.” Remember also Peter says that God succeeded in “turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making an example unto those that after should live ungodly.” The point is clear, Peter warns of this. God has judged thusly the wicked for doing such things. Will you then ignore the biblical warnings thinking God will not judge you for such things? From what we have seen in America one would think we care less what kind of judgment was brought upon people for the things they did. A clear judgment with clear warnings against such things, equals the penalties for obeying or living in a disobedient lifestyle.
Now the point I want to bring out here is that Peter bluntly and clearly says here that the “Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.” In this point Peter clearly states that he is addressing “them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness.” These people do what they want and despise those in authority who try to correct them or their behavior. This is where society in America and the world of the nations of men now are. This also points to Mystery Babylon, the Harlot, as well to Great Tribulation upon the world of nations. It is time for the believers in Jesus Christ to prepare themselves, stay out the sins of the flesh and walk in the Light of Jesus Christ as he would have you to do.
(19) While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. (20) For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. (21) For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. (22) But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. This is also found in Luke chapter three and verse nine. The Ax is laid at the root of the Tree: This phrase refers to Jewish Nation being cut down because of their fruitlessness. In this case using it in the Gospels, it also encompasses Christs words given to the Church. However, it stands as a warning to all people and nations.
Matthew 3:10 – And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore, every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. Luke 3: 9 – And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. Joh 15:6-7 – If a man abides not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Gal 1:4 – Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: Jer 32:27 -Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?

Finally, let me relate these items in closing. In both Sodom and in Gomorrah’s judgment the result was destruction. In Nineveh’s warning of judgment, they repented but later the nation faced destruction when the generations forgot the lesson. Judah failed to heed the warnings of Jeremiah and faced judgment and destruction and captivity for seventy years. The Northern tribes also faced judgment and were carried away by the Assyrians. Today Christians and the Nations must remember that these are warnings to heed. But in judgment, there is mercy. Judgment is intended to turn nations and people’s away from their sins and coming judgment. While there are those who learn and repent in judgment, others delay and go through it. The final judgment on Sins and the great White Throne judgment will not allow you to escape, unless you are found in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Psalm 27:13 – I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Psalm 142:5 – I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

I am not encouraged by the sin, rebellion, lust, and abominable ways I see, nor by the division in America and the coming global war. I am encouraged by those things I see where people repent. I am encouraged by those who are receiving Christ globally, the miracles, and those things at home where right ways, faith, charity, peace, and love in Christ are springing forth. Yes, this encourages and blesses me; I know the Lord is pleased with those who do this. His Spirit with Me, for he saith “My spirit will bear witness with your Spirit that you are a child of God.” Yes, with this I am pleased. Don’t delay seek the Lord and be found in Christ Jesus. Read John chapter one, chapter three, and chapters 10-18. Read Romans chapter three through seven. Read 1st John.
1Jn 1:5-7 (5) This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (6) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: (7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

A clear judgment with clear warnings against such things, equals the penalties for obeying or living in a disobedient lifestyle.
Now the point I want to bring out here is that Peter bluntly and clearly says here that the “Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.” In this point Peter clearly states that he is addressing “them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness.” These people do what they want and despise those in authority who try to correct them or their behavior. This is where society in America and the world of the nations of men now are. This also points to Mystery Babylon, the Harlot, as well to Great Tribulation upon the world of nations. It is time for the believers in Jesus Christ to prepare themselves, stay out the sins of the flesh and walk in the Light of Jesus Christ as he would have you to do.
In Matthew chapter three, verses eight through twelve we find the Gospel relaying this. “Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.” Herein we find the phrase “the axe is laid unto the root of the trees”. This is also found in Luke chapter three and verse nine. The Ax is laid at the root of the Tree: This phrase refers to Jewish Nation being cut down because of their fruitlessness. In this case using it in the Gospels, it also encompasses Christs words given to the Church. However, it stands as a warning to all people and nations.
Finally, let me relate these items in closing. In both Sodom and in Gomorrah’s judgment the result was destruction. In Nineveh’s warning of judgment, they repented but later the nation faced destruction when the generations forgot the lesson. Judah failed to heed the warnings of Jeremiah and faced judgment and destruction and captivity for seventy years. The Northern tribes also faced judgment and were carried away by the Assyrians. Today Christians and the Nations must remember that these are warnings to heed. But in judgment, there is mercy. Judgment is intended to turn nations and people’s away from their sins and coming judgment. While there are those who learn and repent in judgment, others delay and go through it. The final judgment on Sins and the great White Throne judgment will not allow you to escape, unless you are found in Jesus Christ our Lord.
I am not encouraged by the sin, rebellion, lust, and abominable ways I see, nor by the division in America and the coming global war. I am encouraged by those things I see where people repent. I am encouraged by those who are receiving Christ globally, the miracles, and those things at home where right ways, faith, charity, peace, and love in Christ are springing forth. Yes, this encourages and blesses me; I know the Lord is pleased with those who do this. His Spirit with Me, for he saith “My spirit will bear witness with your Spirit that you are a child of God.” Yes, with this I am pleased. Don’t delay seek the Lord and be found in Christ Jesus. Read John chapter one, chapter three, and chapters 10-18. Read Romans chapter three through seven. Read 1st John.
