Discern Signs -The Signs are evident, allowing us to Discern the Times in which we live! When dealing with signs, wonders, prophecy, and plain good sage teachings from the Apostles; one must pay attention. The Apostle John says in his second epistle, chapter one; verse ten, that if anyone comes to you and as John says, “bring not this doctrine”, then do not have anything to do with him. If you give quarter to him, invite him in, then you are a “partaker of his evil deeds”! Siding with evil or giving your consent to evil or wrong doctrine is wrong. John here is giving solid biblical teaching. If you hang around blasphemy, sin, and evil; soon it will rub off on you or someone close to you. What he was referring to is the “doctrine of Christ” which is both the Father and the Son. Further, this should say something to Christian churches and their pastors who allow those unbiblical teachings into the church!

Discern Signs amidst the Times
While the world knows no difference, there is a difference as wide as hell is from heaven. I refer to biblical values. In this context we address efforts to Discern Signs. In addition, today in America and around the world we find Christian businesspeople who try to follow biblical values. However, due to laws; many cannot. They must violate their faith and what they believe is right. So, a Christian will face lawsuits and a fine; plus, jail if they do not cooperate. It does not matter to the US laws and our system of justice if you as a Christian want to follow your religious convictions. If those convictions refuse service to those living in lifestyles you disagree with. Today, as Christians as never before our rights are limited under law. We have seen this repeatedly. America today is not the America of the forties, fifties, sixties!
Case in point, the US Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from a Christian bed and breakfast owner who was ordered by a lower court to serve a lesbian couple despite it being a violation of her religious beliefs. The Supreme Court rejected the appeal Monday, thus upholding the lower court’s ruling in favor of the lesbian couple. Now, litigation will continue to determine what penalty the Christian business owner must face. Christian B&B owner
Eventually Christianity will lose every right in America. Christians will have to give way to the world, the harlot, and the system to survive. The America where a Christian had rights and a voice is being destroyed brick by brick. Eventually the world will win. It will have its way and in America the nation of Christian rights and freedoms will be gone forever. Our forefathers warned us of the dangers of such things. America has lived a sinful and decadent lifestyle and as it progressed more to a democracy instead of a Republic, we left the moorings of good Christian faith and practice. Losing liberty for licentious behavior to be acceptable is damnable. It will lead to our downfall and destruction. However, this too falls under Signs amidst the Times! Paul warned of the Perilous last days. This peril is the lawlessness and sinful behavior that becomes acceptable.

We find that John further says in his First Epistle, Chapter three that if a person who claims to be a Christian “committed sin” then they are “of the devil”! Sometimes we postulate and ponder about sin in the world we live in. It is straightforward. No guess work here, especially if we consider the Christian conduct and belief. Those who are Christs follow his commandments, “walking in righteousness even as he is righteous.” This is simple. If we find people that claim to be a Christian, but they walk in blasphemy and outright sin; then they are of the devil. If they hate fellow Christians, they are of the devil. No doubts here. We cannot belong to Jesus Christ and the Devil. We must choose whom we serve. The flesh and the world or Christ and his calling. Here again are the Signs amidst the Times. For the world will follow the Harlot, drinking her swill of abominations from her cup as she rides the beast, see Revelation 17. This is where the Church will stand or fall; will we follow the world or the Christ who died for our sins. As the end of days progress, rebellion and lawlessness is the hallmark of its presence.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1st John 1:5-7 KJV
Further as we live in the end of days; we find there are times when we would like the Lord to come. Questions arise like “How close is his coming” and “when is the tribulation”? Yet we find the Apostle Paul dealing with a paramount issue when false teachers got to the Thessalonians and convinced them the Day of the Lord had come. As a result, these Christians thought they had missed his coming, lost out, and were headed to hell! Paul set them straight. These false teachers had letters of some sort mentioning they had come from the Apostles. But Paul leads them into one of the best end time prophetic teachings of all time. The second chapter of Thessalonians and the man of lawlessness, the fall of society from the love of the truth, and the deception to come.
When people refuse the truth, then only one alternative is left; that is a lie. This is what the nations of men have a choice to do. Even in America we must make our choice as to the truth. Therefore, it is imperative for all Christians to discern truth, falsity, and the signs of the times. This brings up the time in the life of Christ when the Pharisees and Sadducees came to tempt Christ. They wanted a sign to prove who he was. The trouble was, Jesus Christ was doing signs all the time, miracles endless, and tough teachings on the kingdom. These religious failed to see the miracles totally. So, they came wanting to see signs. If they didn’t see them when he performed them all the time before the people, then they certainly would not see them now. This request was born of sin and wanting to find fault to accuse him. But Christ berated them. You can find this in Matthew chapter sixteen, see the quote below. He further said this “wicked and adulterous generation seeks a sign”! A sign would be given, but they would not see it either. It is in this context, the Lord told them they “could not discern the signs of the times” but they could tell the signs of changing weather.
The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, when it is evening, ye say, it will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, it will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them and departed.
In Luke, the Lord’s discernment of the times is mentioned as well. The connection is clear. We look at the heavens, the clouds, the wildlife, and we can tell the approach of one season to another. We can tell if a change of weather will be coming by the signs. Why then do not people see the times and the signs of the biblical coming of the Lord?
And he said also to the people, when ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, there cometh a shower; and so, it is. And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, there will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
Luk 12:54-56
Besides being a world in rebellion against the Lord and His Anointed; we have a world used to technology. So, part of the answer may lay in the fact we have weather channels, news channels, and reports that tell us well in advance what is coming. Many times, these reports are spot on. In the days of my great grandfather and before him; they knew the signs of the seasons. They could tell if a change of weather was coming. One can tell if the pressure, barometric is building up. One can sense in his own body when a cold snap would approach. People especially with body issues like rheumatism, knee problems, stiffness can tell in their joints when a change is coming.
However, in our neighborhood we know as well. When the birds that fly south gather in large numbers, flying V formation all over the place; they are gathering to go south before winter. If you see the fur of animals getting thicker, changing color, and seeing them scurrying about to find food; you know they are readying for winter. Here in the fall, the Canadian geese gather on the Platte. We have loads of them because of the water, safety, and food that people bring to feed them. In the Spring, before it arrives; these geese begin pairing up to ready for the birth of the young. We see geese in pairs of female and male. Groups of these gather about eating and making nests by the river. We see groups of 3 or 4 pairs all the time. Then when spring is here, they begin arising as soon as the young goslings can get around. Pretty soon, all of them are gone from here as soon as they all can fly. By this time, it is summer.
If I see a ring around the moon, it means a change of weather. In the summer it means rain usually and winter it means wintry weather and snow. Wind blowing around here means it is blowing things in or blowing the weather system out. In times of spring and fall, the wind blows all the time, but harder when a change of weather is about. I can tell you the winds of change in this world and America are happening right now. They have been blowing extremely hard the last 20 years or so.
Moreover, we see perilousness in society. More than anytime, we see lawlessness which is breaking the law of God. It is here that people ignore the biblical warnings against sodomy, adultery, theft, lusting, bearing false witness. Although the ten commandments only cover ten in number; you can find the warnings of the Apostles. Many think today that the law is removed. It is not, it was fulfilled by the Lord when he came. However, go to 2nd Timothy chapter three and find upwards of twenty some items describing how perilous and lawless society would get. All these things mentioned are sinful! We get warned about the sons of disobedience in Ephesians and Colossians. In Galatians five we find the warnings about the lusts of the flesh and what happens when people indulge in these. Paul says here in verses 19-21 of the many things that people do which defile the flesh, the body, and the spirit. It also describes society in general, a people that doesn’t know God. As society delves into these lusts and accepts them; reveling in them, we know it is the end of days. For we then find the “Harlot” of deception and the wine of abominations in Revelation chapter 17. She rides the beast from which this “Harlot” got her power, abominations, and success in the world. She is on top and feeds these sinful indulgences to the world, to the nations of men, and to their leaders. Thus, we see then; Mystery Babylon the Great in Revelation chapter 18.
The signs are simple! Many times, teachers make them hard. Men can make prophecy difficult. We are given things which we can know. Then there are the mysteries to which require Revelation from the Lord. But just look at America today and the world. Even by the most ardent of skeptics the times are changing drastically. For Christians these are signs of the end.
We can also point to Christian persecution today. At the WIBR/WARN Radio we have been covering Christian Persecution for many years. In fact, through our Advocacy broadcast we specialize in doing just that. I can tell you that we have seen more Christian blood spilled in our lifetime than at any other time in history. We cover ongoing reports of Christian persecution, slaughter, kidnapping of wives, raping of women, and murder; not to mention imprisonment for their faith. Today we also see a shift away from the gospel in America and from this Great God who sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.
If signs were fruit and that fruit were on a tree. We could look at that tree and see a tree full of rotten fruit full of sin. By this you would surely know that the tribulation is nigh, and the harvest of the earth is coming.
But as the Apostle Paul says to the brethren in his day, “ye brethren are not in darkness”! The day He was speaking about was the “Day of the Lord coming as a thief in the night” -1 Thess 5:2 KJV. If Paul and his brethren were looking to the Lord back then, how much more should we today. Therefore, let us not sleep; but watch and be sober for the end of days are surely upon us, more so than it was upon the early church in the days of the Apostles.
In conclusion, there are signs and information. We are sure that the end of days is upon us. We as believers need to be watchful and sober [clear headed, fully minded] of these perilous or dangerous times we live in. As believers we are not of the darkness or night but of the light, of the day, which live in the Faith and Testimony of Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [HaMassiach]. We have the Spirit of the Lord within us, his Words on our lips and in our hearts. Therefore, we are fully able to Discern the Signs amidst the Times in which we live.
A Warning here! Remember the Pharisees, Sadducees, and even those in the Synagogue never did discern the Messiah or the signs of the Times. Some believed but not all. Among the people, however; many believed. In the end many turned against him. He was crucified as a lamb being led to the slaughter, but in that became the Lamb of God who took away the sins of men. Today, being religious is not discernment. You must be in the Light of the Lord, walking in Him; having received him. See John 1, 3, 10, 15; 1st John 1; Rev 12:11
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Thanks Watchman…yes, American society is reveling in the filth today. They absolutely love their sin, and just can’t get enough of it. We true believers can see the signs all around us. Some thing I found odd i.e. in the 1990s, I was talking to another GySgt. He was from Texas, and spoke with a country twang. When I started talking about the signs of the Lord’s 2nd coming, he abruptly stated “I’ve heard that stuff all my life.” Now, here is someone born in the bible belt, raised in the church, yet was not interested in talking about bible prophecy. I was taken aback, and felt sorry that he had apparently lost his savor. But we will continue in walking the true path, keenly watching the signs around us. It is shocking and heart wrenching to see fellow believers tortured and brutally killed by the enemies of God. As true believers, we earnestly look for His 2nd coming, to set everything straight. The Lord’s peace to you and Tower…Amen.
