Gods Purpose -It is this Lesson, the lesson of that Old Porch which makes life come into a brighter view. Being thankful for what there is and settling for Gods purpose. Time and Tide, it is said “wait for no man”! So too, Gods Purpose waits and allows us to make our choices. He has provided for us a place of redemptive habit through Christ Jesus. Let us look at this lesson of the Old Porch and the Family who grew as it aged. Do not take advantage of people, animals, or anything or one in your path. Your time on earth is limited. Seek the Lord! Know Him, and praise and rejoice in Him. Be ye Thankful for all your blessings.

Gods Purpose -The Lesson of that Old Porch
They were young and in love. Looking into each other’s eyes revealed they were made for one another. It was after a longer courtship that they got married. Settling down into a brand-new house, it needed one thing. A nice extended porch or deck as some would have it named.
When it was finished in redwood and then oiled with a fine coating, the brand-new addition was ready. Indeed, over the years found the family with a new a baby girl. Soon, another little one arrived; which was a boy that greeted the new family. Time passed and the children found themselves nestled in the arms of loving parents. Then another bundle came into the world. It was another girl. The family after three wee ones; added two dogs, a cat named buttons; and a tankful of aquatic fish.
Over the years, they lived a good life. It was filled with Faith, Family, church, and blessing. The porch weathered well, although now it had been standing for over a dozen years. Every three years they gave it a brush up of sanding and then oil. Then the tightening up of the structure, for age had weathered and loosened it.
The kids went to college, graduated, and married. Now they all had kids. The grandkids were now grown to teens. Mom and Dad looked to the parents who were now older and slower. Overtime, the deck continued to weather; but held firm. It was as if it was resisting the age to which it had acquired. Like the now older parents, who were now great grandparents. When the kids, all of them came; the porch held its own, as it stood proudly. Yet with the pressure you could hear it groan.
As time passed by, one of the elder grandparents died. The widow would sit on the porch as much as she could. Remembering days gone by. It was here on that old Porch that she and the love of her life sat quietly watching the wildlife in the waning hours as the sun sank beneath the horizon. A tear would come, she would cry gently as she spoke his name under her breath. Still, her heart pounded so when thought of her one and only true love.
The kids were heartbroken and sat on that old porch when they could. Everyone remembering the good times they had. But newer porches attached to bigger and better houses were now the rage. In spite of the old porch and Its age, everyone loved it the best.
Soon, Grandma went to be with Grandpa beyond. Their lives a memory in the loved ones they left. The morals, the justice, the faith, and the truths they taught; beat loudly within the heart of these. One day passing by the old house, a view that caused a tear appeared. The house of the parents had been sold and, on that day the family went to say goodbye. The porch was there; but not as it once stood. It lay in heaps as people tossed it around, carelessly; not knowing its value. For what was once young, vibrant, and blessed; now was gone. So too, the Porch which had so been used. Now a new family, a newer porch, and another life span continues. It is the Lords Circle of Life.
Gods Purpose -The Lesson of that Old Porch
It is the Lesson of that Old Porch and Gods Purpose that I remember when I passed it by. Although we die, being in Christ; we shall be made alive and be with Him in his kingdom. It is our Hope. It is also True that generations come and go. When your parent, grandparent, or other passes away, they are gone forever. Until Christ Jesus Comes. That is why you need to love, cherish, and build on the family unit and friends that surround you. Today we have lost that. It is why Jesus Christ our Lord died. To make it possible to have a glorious hope beyond this life we live.
